Timeline
The first time I saw him, we were waiting at the gate for a flight to San Diego. The airport was buzzing, but when my eyes landed on him calm, reading a book, everything else faded. Oh wow, he’s cute, I thought, quickly looking away.
On the plane, I found my seat by the window. The spot beside me was empty, and I couldn’t help but wish he’d sit there, And then, he did.
We talked the whole flight, conversation flowing like we’d known each other for years. Before we landed, he asked for my number. I smiled, but walked away convinced I’d never hear from him again.
Months later, just as he’d become a “missed connection,” my phone lit up with a simple message “Happy New Year.”
And just like that, it felt like no time had passed at all.
