The first time I saw him, I was crouched in the corner of a bookstore, reaching for a copy on the top shelf.
My fingers just brushed it when another hand reached up effortlessly and pulled it down.
“Here,” he said with a smile,
holding the book out to me.
We ended up talking in the aisle about authors and favorites until I realized an hour had slipped by.
He asked if I wanted coffee, but I had to run. I thought it would be the last time.
Weeks later, I walked into a café, and there he was, at a table, the same book between his hands.
